Cat Health Care
A healthy cat is a happy cat and will be a joy to have around. So as a pet owner it is your responsibility to provide for your cat’s medical needs. To ensure that your cat stays healthy you will have to vaccinate it every year against rabies and other contagious diseases. It is also necessary to take your cat for regular health checks every six months or at least annually. These checks will ensure that your cat is free of digestive system disease, heart problems and other such health issues. Just like human beings cats also need extra care with advancing years. So once your cat is past it’s prime, take it to the vet regularly for a blood test. Kidney problems become a real concern with age. Getting a blood test will help detect most problems before they gain serious proportions. When using vaccinations use ones that protect your cat against a combination of diseases and are approved by your vet. Some common health problems that your cat may suffer and which are very easy to notice are- Vomiting due to hairball problem- cats tend to lick themselves clean if your cat has a hair fall problem these hair enter the digestive system and form a ball which your cat pukes out. The best way to avoid this problem is to brush your cat regularly. This will take care of the hair fall problem. Ear mites- this is a problem caused due to poor hygiene. It is important to keep your cat’s ears clean. You can use regular ear swabs to do so. Accumulation of dirt in the ear will harbor parasites called ear mites and this will eventually result in a dark smelly discharge from the ear. You can use a muellin mixture to prevent ear mites. Excessive licking- Some amount of licking is normal for your pet but if you find your cat licking a particular part of its body over and over again this may be a sign of pain in that region. Animals tend to lick themselves to soothe pain and discomfort. So if your cat is licking a part of its body excessively this may be a result of a skin irritation or pain. Its best to get it checked to avoid further problems. Your cat needs the same level of commitment and love as your child. So give it the best care with loads of love.
